Readings Schedule

Readings take place over the course of three days and are offered in two different meetings. Please make sure you are joining the correct meeting room.

Readings will feature one or two authors reading a selected work, will be followed by a short Q&A session. Some readings may or may not offer break out rooms to continue Q&A and additional discussion with an individual author.

If you do not plan on listening to the next reader, please exit the room to make space for other attendees.

All times are EST. Friday begins at 11 AM EST; Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM EST.

READING: DL GARDNER
DL will read from Cassandra’s Castle,  a time travel historical fantasy novel, book 5 of the Ian’s Realm Saga

READING:  RON MILLER & ALLEN STEELE
Ron will read The Camera Obscura, a story set in a near-post-apocalyptic world.
Allen will read from The Guns of Pluto, the latest release in his Captain Future series.

READING: MARIE BILODEAU & JULIE CZERNEDA
Julie will read from MIRAGE, Book Two of the Web Shifter’s Library, out August 11, 2020 from DAW Books. The adventure continues in the life of a certain charming blue blob and her Human friend. Chimeras have come to the All Species’ Library of Linguistics and Culture, desperate to escape persecution. Meanwhile, something’s hiding in the hills. And then there’s the greenhouse.

READING: JAMES CAMBIAS & JACK CLEMONS
James will read from The Godel Operation, a hard SF adventure set in the distant future of the Solar System: The tyranny of the sorcerers must end! One man takes on an ancient conspiracy of wizards in The Initiate
Jack will read an excerpt from the time travel short story Intruder,  published in Amazing Stories Magazine Vol 77, Issue 1, Fall 2019

READING: G. SCOTT HUGGINS
Scott will read from A Concern Of Trolls, an excerpt from the novel ALL THINGS HUGE AND HIDEOUS. A story about a veterinarian who is forced to treat a horrible noblewoman’s pet basilisk, and how he gets rid of her as a client.

Jack will read Searching for Oz, an alternate history tale exploring what happens if SETI had, during its early years, picked up radio transmissions from the stars
Kimberly will read from 
Nucleation. Operating a finely-tuned machine across a billion years of space takes a delicate touch and nerves of steel.

READING: WENDY NIKEL & MICHAEL KURLAND
Wendy will read from Stone and Starlight, a flash fiction piece about a ranger at Arches National Park who must contend with a new piece of technology in the tourism industry.

READING: NOAH CHINN & STEVE FAHNESTALK
Noah will read The Gutenberg Treaty. The proprietor of a humble bookstore finds himself facing a war within his inventory. (from an upcoming issue of Amazing Stories)
Steve will read from Gifted Fingers,  published in Compostela; a sympathetic horror story

READING: SALLY MCBRIDE & J.M. FREY
Sally will read The Emperor of the Half Garden, in which an alien entity takes root in a suburban garden and starts transforming the neighborhood.
J.M. will read from The Skylark’s Sacrifice, book two of the Skylark’s Saga duology. Ace pilot Arian Robinhod has been shot down behind enemy lines. She’s captured by her arch nemesis, and he agrees to help her escape on one condition; she takes him with her. YA Action-Adventure Steampunk.

SATURDAY 

10 am

READING: DAVE CREEK & CHIP HOUSER
Dave will read Shadow Walkers.  Roger Inoue and his twin brother Perry share a telepathic link that doesn’t diminish with distance.  But one day Roger can only “watch” in horror as Perry’s life is in danger on a distant planet.
Chip will read Meat for Skritches.  A young man makes sure his cat is all set for the apocalypse.

READING: MARY SOON LEE
Mary will read excerpts from The Sign of the Dragon and other works, poetry from science haiku to epic fantasy.

READING: JF GARRARD
JF will read Designing Fate, a  story about the consequences of genetically modifying children, first published in Ricepaper Magazine issue 19.3.

READING: ELIZABETH HIRST
Elizabeth will read It’s All In the Sauce. A heartbroken vegetarian finds an unlikely solution to their problems during an after-hours encounter at Ribfest.

Adam-Troy will read Eros Pratfalled, or Adrift in the Cosmos with Lasagna and Mary Steenburgen, a Castro story with maybe a nod to Ellison
Brad reads The Demon in Y’alls Basement, a humorous fantasy demonstrating that as it turns out, clicking on a pop-up ad can actually summon a demon.

Frank will read In the Absence of Instructions to the Contrary, an Anlab Award-winning tale of a deepsea submersible in love. With octopuses!

Alex will read from ERIDANI’S CROWN, a political epic fantasy novel.
Rosemary will read Dinomancer.   What could possibly go wrong when hiring a cut-rate tour guide to go see Cretaceous dinosaurs?

Ira will read from Welcome to the Multiverse (Sorry for the Inconvenience),  the first book in the Transdimensional Authority/Multiverse series and from Good Intentions,  the sixth book in the Transdimensional Authority/Multiverse series; the first book in the Multiverse Refugees Trilogy.
